INVESTMENT RECOVERY - TRANSFORMER DECOMMISSIONING

Transformer Decommissioning Mission Statement

At IRH, we listen, evaluate, respond and fulfill all commitments. Our expert team is dedicated to environmentally compliant solutions by assuming single source responsibility at the job site.

Corporate Overview

IRH is the premier source of comprehensive project management for the environmentally safe decommissioning of electrical transformers as well as lead and copper cable. IRH resolves environmental concerns safely, swiftly and cost-effectively.

A large percentage of currently operating electrical distribution equipment in North America is over 30 years old and is damaged, failing, obsolete or inadequate, and perhaps contaminated with environment-polluting substances such as PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls). IRH provides highly specialized remediation services, a one-source solution to reduce environmental risk and liability exposure and at the same time quickly recovering your capital equipment investment. Heavy haul transportation, rigging and installation of new transformers throughout North America is also a substantial part of our services.

Established in 1995, IRH (Intermountain Rigging & Heavyhaul) is located in Salt Lake City, Utah and is dedicated to environmentally compliant solutions. IRH prides itself with an impeccable record of safety and environmental responsibility in the industrial decommissioning, reclamation and recycling space. All governmental regulations are strictly adhered to and our decommissioning teams collaborate closely with your environmental department and with local and federal agencies for compliance and follow-up documentation of the waste stream. A minimum of "A-rated" insurance coverage is always provided and appropriately maintained. Since its inception, IRH has been liability-free from claims against services completed on national and international markets. As a result of our proprietary technology, equipment and procedures for decommissioning, packaging, transporting and processing of oversized and potentially regulated materials, you will quickly recognize and appreciate the added value of environmental protection and safety built into every project.

IRH will assist you in the decommissioning, remediation, reclamation and recycling and transportation of your environmentally sensitive equipment. Our trained expert decom teams are dedicated to single source responsibility at the job site. Only the highest industry standards are used when we evaluate the potential exposure to the client for EPA violations. We then provide a plan of action for proper compliance. Forensic transformer decommissioning is also a vital service offered and is extremely beneficial to our clients and future utility operations. At IRH, we stand at the ready to help shield your company by offering turnkey service solutions including all the necessary, specialized equipment and trained personnel—anywhere in the United States and around the globe.

Lead and Cable Recovery Systems

Commencing in 1993, state and federal agencies began diligently investigating lead and concluded that it is a much greater hazard than originally thought. Specific guidelines were mandated for the proper handling, processing and disposal of recycled lead or any other lead contaminated material.

Although many companies possess equipment to separate copper from the lead and hazardous waste stream, few are operating within the standards mandated by governmental regulations. As these problems surface, it has been estimated that the cost of liability will be three times what has been purported for the elimination of asbestos.

Environmentally safe decommissioning of electrical transformers, as well as lead and copper cable. We recycle copper, aluminum, brass, silicon steel, and various other non-ferrous and precious metals.
